Professor Claudia Mareis is a designer and cultural scientist. Since 2013, she has been Professor of Design Theory and Research at the Academy of Art and Design FHNW in Basel, where she is the founder and director of the Institute of Experimental Design and Media Culture (ixdm) and the associated Critical Media Lab. Professor Mareis is also an associate researcher at the NCCR Iconic Criticism (eikones) at the University of Basel and an associate member of the "Image Knowledge Gestaltung" Cluster of Excellence at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She has been a board member of the German Society for Design Theory and Research (DGTF) since 2008 and a member of the Board of International Research in Design (BIRD) of the Birkhäuser/De Gruyter publishing house since 2009.

Stephan Katz

Illustrator and cartoonist Stephan Katz has been working in partnership with author Max Goldt since 1996 and contributes comic strips to magazines and newspapers such as "Titanic", "DIE ZEIT", "Zitty", "Süddeutsche Zeitung" and "Eulenspiegel". The artistic duo have published numerous comic books, most recently "Der Baum ist köstlich, Graf Zeppelin" (2014).

Prof. Dr. Süheyla Schroeder

Professor Süheyla Schroeder is a founding Vice Chancellor of the German BAU International University of Applied Sciences (in foundation) in Berlin. Born and raised in Turkey, she completed a degree in Anthropology, Media and Cultural Studies before going on to work in Turkey, Scotland and England as a coordinator and lecturer with the British Council in Istanbul. She worked as a professor at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul for several years and then spent three years as a visiting academic at the University of Potsdam, before taking up a position as Director of the Berlin Campus of Bahcesehir University (a privately funded Turkish university) in 2012, where she has been ever since. She is also an executive board member of the Academic Council of the Türkische Gemeinde (Turkish Community) in Germany and a Turkish correspondent for the European Journal of Communication.

Dr. Cebel Küçükkaraca

Dr Cebel Küçükkaraca comes from Turkey and has lived in Germany since 1982. He is Regional Chairperson of the Türkische Gemeinde (Turkish Community) in Schleswig-Holstein and Vice Chairperson of the Türkische Gemeinde in Germany. In his voluntary role in the Türkische Gemeinde in Schleswig-Holstein, Dr Cebel Küçükkaraca is primarily involved in helping migrants to integrate into the community. He has achieved some great successes in his efforts to improve the educational situation of migrants, winning several awards in this field, including an award for innovative vocational training and services to the voluntary sector. He is also a member of the Staff Council at Kiel University, the Hardship Commission for Schleswig-Holstein and the Programme Commission at the Heinrich Böll Foundation.

Prof. Rainer Gumpp

Professor Rainer Gumpp is an architect and professor of architecture. Between 1987 and 1994 he worked with Rolf Schuster and Klaus Mahler at the architecture firm Mahler, Gumpp, Schuster. During this time, the architecture firm won numerous competitions. It also designed the vocational school in Karlsruhe, the extension to the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart and the central office of the Volksbank in Göppingen. Professor Rainer Gumpp has been working at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since 1995 and holds the position of Professor of Design and Structural Systems in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism. In addition to giving a range of seminars in his subject area, he supervises various student architectural competitions and building projects.
