Ideas competition

Be it travel, events or public relations – the exchange of knowledge not only requires time and effort, but also money. With the aim of launching new projects within the Year of Science itself, the BMBF and its Turkish counterpart are each running an ideas competition with an agreement to provide funding.

On the German side, the BMBF is inviting German universities and non-academic research institutions and companies based in Germany – especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) – to develop project ideas that are especially suited to highlighting and building on German-Turkish cooperation in the fields of research, education and innovation. The ideas for projects should be based on the goals of the joint Year of Science, i.e. they should relate to key technologies (topic cluster 1), the challenges of global change (topic cluster 2) or the challenges of social change (topic cluster 3). The interdisciplinary topics are of particular importance, i.e. the interfaces between science and economics and between science and society – especially the encouragement of the younger generation.

The best ideas for the joint Year of Science will be selected by a jury, funded from both the German and Turkish sides and presented on this portal.

The ideas competition is full of promise, as can be seen from the projects funded in previous Science Years.

Saying of the Day

„One never reaches home. But where paths that have an affinity for each other intersect, the whole world looks like home for a time.”

Hermann Hesse, Demian
